The argovia philharmonic is the most important orchestra of the cultural canton of Aargau. With fresh concepts and innovative formats, it pursues its very own goal of bringing classical music to the entire canton. Since 2017, RIBAG has been a sponsor for the promotion of culture.

Founded in 1963
As the «Aargauer Symphonie Orchester», the Swiss orchestra has long since grown into a nationally established professional orchestra. Since the 2013/14 season, the orchestra has acted as argovia philharmonic, and in its concert series it has not only shaped its own homeland musically with a broad repertoire, but has also made regular guest appearances at the Tonhalle Zurich and the KKL Lucerne, among other venues. The argovia philharmonic is the house orchestra of the three-yearly opera Schloss Hallwyl and has also been artistic director since 2016.

Thanks to its unique structure, argovia philharmonic has earned its own place in the Swiss orchestral landscape. The argovia philharmonic distinguishes itself from the permanent professional orchestras through its project-related work with a permanent cast and regular concert activity. With this structure it stands like no other orchestra for the diverse, often project-oriented professional Swiss musical creation.

Event Music and Light - A Sensual Experience
On 23 May 2019, four cellists from argovia philharmonic staged their works in various rooms of the impressive RIBAG architectural building in Safenwil. The focus was on experiencing sound worlds and spatial dimensions.

After the concert began under the impressive chandelier in the foyer, visitors were guided through the company building in four groups. In each of the four stairwells a cellist staged a work, accompanied by an atmospheric light production. Depending on the style of music, this was either pulsating, dormant, theatrically staged or quite naturally in the light of a single candle. To the sounds of Cassadó, Ligeti and Bach, to quartets and solo works, the visitors were able to look behind the scenes of the Safenwiler Lichtmanufaktur. Light and sound could be experienced in a special way through mutual interaction. In addition to the various productions, a special highlight was the final piece «Nothing else matters» and the aperitif in the new Light Gallery, in which the most modern lighting solutions could be experienced with a glass of wine and various appetizers.
